“The obedience ‘Grand Orient of Austria’ is the voluntary association of Masonic lodges that were founded as just and perfect lodges in accordance with the principles of the Strasbourg Declaration of CLIPSAS and that affirm these principles. Its aim is to provide these lodges with the greatest possible scope for development in the spirit of liberal Freemasonry.
The Grand Orient of Austria unites within its lodges Freemasons of all genders, without distinction of origin, religion, or worldview. The Grand Orient of Austria understands itself as pluralistic. Different Masonic rituals may coexist on an equal footing in women’s, mixed, and men’s lodges. The Grand Orient of Austria is autonomous and independent in relation to every other Masonic institution.
The Grand Orient of Austria is a founding member of CLIPSAS (Centre de Liaison et d’Information des Puissances maçonniques Signataires de l’Appel de Strasbourg, 22 January 1961) and, in this spirit, affirms its commitment to absolute freedom of conscience and to tolerance.
