Our aim is to be firmly anchored with both feet in the square of reality, and through the power of our freely aspiring spirit, to be human on all levels.
This motto closed the circle on 2 October 1999, the day on which the Light of the lodge Sapientia Cordis was kindled, and it set out our ‘work programme’ — both within the lodge and out in life. Sapientia Cordis is a lodge for women and men and works in Vienna according to the Schröder ritual as practised in the Grand Orient of Austria.
Brother and sister Freemasons are warmly welcome at our meetings.
A living community of sisters and brothers in the lodge, guided by freedom, equality, and tolerance, is an essential prerequisite for Freemasonry to fulfil the claims it makes of itself. Degrees and offices do not constitute a hierarchy; dignified conduct of the ritual and convivial festive boards are no contradiction. Sapientia Cordis also obliges all sisters and brothers to keep alive the awareness of the responsibility that reaches out into life, and as a lodge it will take a stand against attacks on human freedom and human dignity.
