The Bulgarian‑speaking lodge ORPHEUS SOPHIA works in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia. It is a mixed lodge for men and women, without distinction of gender, origin, nationality, faith, worldview, or social standing.
The lighting of the lodge took place on 3 November 2012 under the aegis of the Grand Orient of Austria; during the Winter St. John’s Festival of 2012, the lodge ORPHEUS SOPHIA was solemnly received as a regular member lodge.
The lodge ORPHEUS SOPHIA works in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR).
The lodge pursues no aims that violate the laws of the Bulgarian or Austrian Republics, the European Union, or good morals and customs.
We seek to realise our appeal ‘Liberty – Equality – Fraternity’ both in Masonic life and in the profane world.
Standing for human rights, we affirm that all men and women must have equal opportunity to enjoy social justice within a community organised in free and fraternal associations.
The lodge ORPHEUS SOPHIA strives for a humane social order grounded in social justice. We stand for human rights, human dignity and freedom, for international understanding and for peace among nations.
